The Best pork you’ll ever have
What makes this pork so good? Our pigs drink milk! Raw milk! Our raw milk!
Our pigs are also on a mini pasture where they can forage for plants and bugs to munch on all while enjoying dirt on their bellies and sunshine on their back.
The combination of greens to eat and milk to drink makes for spectacular meat. Milk is rich in amino acids like lysine which can be limiting in some pigs diets. This adds to the protein density in the pork. Pastured pork can also have a better fatty acid profile with a higher omega 3 to omega 6 ration. Milk in the pig’s diet can contribute to more a higher vitamin level in the pork as well.
Milk in the pig’s diet makes for a richer meat and possibly the best bacon ever.
In addition to nutrients and taste, our pastured milk fed pork live a very good life. They’re they happiest little porkers you’ll come across. With sun on their back and milk in their bellies, our pigs are living the traditional dream that pigs of old lived.
They are a huge part in making our farm more sustainable and reducing waste. Our pigs help offset our extra milk so that less goes down the drain. Between the grass, hay, and milk, they eat very little grains. They love it, and we love it.
The butcher we use only cures their bacon with salt and sugar! No added nitrates! Hams have a legal requirement of nitrates per FDA regulations. Our butcher uses the absolute minimum possible so that the meat is as natural as possible.
We sell pork by the half or whole. The price is $5.00 a pound hanging weight. Hanging weight (weight of hog after the removal of the blood, head, hide, hooves, and organs) is generally 140-180 pounds per pig. If the hanging weight of the pig was 160 pounds it would come to $800 for a whole or $400 for a half. This price includes all the butchering fees. We do take a $100 down payment that goes off of the total to reserve your pig.
Currently, we only take pigs in once a year, but are hoping to do more! Reach out if you have any questions or want to reserve your pig!
