Beef for sale
In these unprecedented times, nothing is more comforting than knowing you have the ability to feed your family quality, nutrient dense foods. We can help you with that! We sell quarters, halves, and whole cows for meat! How this works is you pay us one flat rate for the cow and processing then you get your meat and fill your freezer with delicious goodness. You will not regret having tasty, nutritious protein on hand to enjoy regularly!
Our steers are fed a combination of grass, hay, and minimal grain. In the summer we rotate them through pastures so as weather allows, they always have access to fresh grass. In the winter, they are on corn stalks so they still get the benefits of being outside though there may not be grass. Both in summer and winter, they are given free choice of alfalfa hay that we grow naturally on our farm. They have free choice of a grain mix too, but often opt for the grass and hay over the grain. They are never shut up in a barn or barnyard to “finish off.”
Year round they have access to both hay and a grain mix in addition to their ability to forage for greens either on pasture or in fields. The percentage of their diet that is grain is never more than 13%. What does all this mean? Their meat is really good. They have great marbling and flavor that comes from the little bit of grain they eat, but they also have the benefits of being on grass. They have overall a better fatty acid profile. Their omega 3 to omega 6 ratio is better than grain fed beef. They tend to be leaner with a ground beef fat percentage close to 90/10. Plus they’re super happy. We think that’s important to good meat too.
Our price for our beef is $4.20 a pound hanging weight. Each cow varies in weight, but we generally grow them quite big. We guesstimate that our average hanging weight is 1,020 pounds. So for a whole beef it would shake out to be around $4,280, for a half it’d be around $2,140, and for a quarter it’d be around $1,070. Again this includes the price of the beef and processing. We take cash, check, and card. There is an additional 4% fee to use a credit or debit card.
We are taking now a $500 deposit on beef. This deposit will go towards your total. The deposit is due when you reserve your beef, and the rest is due upon picking up your beef. Reach out if you have any questions.
