The better egg

Why Duck eggs??

Let’s talk about it! Duck eggs are larger and contain more nutrients than chicken eggs. They’re great for other reasons too!

  • Duck eggs have higher protein than chicken eggs! They have 9 grams of protein per egg versus chicken eggs only being 5 grams of protein. Protein helps build and repair tissues as well as maintains overall health.

  • They are rich in healthy fats! Duck eggs are a good source of omega 3 fatty acids which help with brain function, heart health, and reducing inflammation.

  • Duck eggs are rich in vitamins and minerals! They’re packed with vitamin B12, vitamin B2, choline, iron, and selenium.

  • Duck eggs have a greater yolk to white ratio than chicken eggs making them more creamy and delicious. This makes for great baking! And if refrigerated, they yolks are much stronger than your average chicken egg. So there’s less chance of breaking them if you’re trying to separate the yolk from the white or are trying to make fried eggs!

  • Due to the thick shell, duck eggs last longer! They generally don’t go bad as quickly as chicken eggs thanks to a very thick shell.

  • Those with sensitivities to chicken eggs may be able to digest duck eggs! Check with your doctor, but if you struggle with digesting chicken eggs, duck eggs may be the option for you. Some have noticed it takes a time or two to get used to duck eggs as well, but often they sit better with folks. Again, check with your doctor!

Another cool thing about getting duck eggs from us? You’re supporting young entrepreneurs! And I mean young! Our kiddos love the ducks. They’ve taken on a lot of personal responsibility as to their care. They help shut them in at night, feed them, gather eggs, and more. They’re learning the value of hard work as well as caring for animals. (They “help” with the cows too, but 7 pound birds are easier and safer to wrangle than 1 ton cows.) After the costs are taken out, they get to keep the profits. My daughter bought barbies for herself with the money she earned then promptly went to show her ducks her new purchase. They love the ducks and love getting to sell the eggs! If you’re lucky, you may get an egg carton decorated by them too!!
